New Outdoor Grilling Pavilion at Coyote Lodge

Your cookouts just got an upgrade! Along with our recent Coyote Lodge renovation comes a new grilling pavilion next to the fire pit.

Equipped with a gas grill, Blackstone cooktop, and prep table, you can cook for large groups comfortably. Enjoy your BBQ and fixings at the nearby picnic tables or while sitting around the fire.

Stay at Coyote Lodge to experience it yourself and see all of the exterior and interior upgrades made to the lodge. It’s perfect for your next gathering!

Free & Low Cost Outdoor Activities in Brevard, NC!

Use your cabin as a base camp for your outdoor adventures. When staying at Deerwoode Reserve, you are a short distance from many stunning natural areas with free entry! Brevard is the perfect location to get outside.

If you’re traveling from a big city like Charlotte, Atlanta, Jacksonville, etc., you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how easy and inexpensive it is to enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery. In Brevard, we are surrounded by nature in all directions, with scenic views on every road you drive and trail you hike. Many trails lead to waterfalls too!

And from your cabin at Deerwoode, you don’t even have to drive anywhere if you don’t want to! We have hikes, water activities, and views on our 175 acre property.

There are no entry fees for the nearby state and national parks and forests!

Drop-in Venue & Property Tours

Wednesdays in July, 3-5 PM

Make memories in the mountains! We invite you to come tour our wedding & event venue, The Mayes Event Center at Deerwoode Reserve. Every Wednesday, from 3-5 PM we’ll host a meet & greet with our event staff and show you our beautiful property & versatile venue.

Walk through all the spaces at the venue ~ the dressing suite, catering kitchen, reception hall, covered pavilion & outdoor patio. Imagine how your special day would feel as you visit our outdoor ceremony spots ~ The Chapel in the Trees and Lakeside Arbor. Meander through the garden, visit the swimming hole, and tour a cabin (if available) to appreciate all that our unique property has to offer.

Meet with our event staff to learn more about our wedding packages and event services. We offer everything from small, intimate celebrations to whole property gatherings. See if our property is the perfect fit for your wedding, celebration, family reunion, corporate retreat or holiday party. We would love to be the beautiful mountain backdrop for your wedding or event!

Tours are free to attend & open to the public. No need to RSVP. Just drop in on Wednesdays between 3-5 pm. Follow the signs to parking and enter at the Mayes Event Center. We hope to see you there!

Mondays, 6 – 7 PM

This is a weekly class open to guests and to the publc! Lead by Respira Retreats instructors, Julie Paterson or Clare Desmelik, join us for yoga on Monday evenings from 6-7pm. Suggested donation (cash or venmo) $10-$20. No registration required!

Some helpful info…

  • Bring your own mat and water.
  • Come a little early as there is a short walk up to the Chapel in the Trees.
  • When you enter Deerwoode, follow signs to the parking area near the garden.
  • You will walk to the “Swimming Hole” which is up the hill behind the Event Center. You will see the Chapel in the Trees behind the swimming hole. Cross the bridge and come on up!

If it is raining, we will practice at the event center. **If there is lightning, class will not take place.

July 3rd – 4th

Celebrate Independence Day in downtown Brevard with an expanded two-day celebration honoring America’s 250th anniversary. Festivities begin on Friday, July 3, 2026, with an evening street festival on East Main Street featuring local vendors, food trucks, a beer garden, and live music—setting the stage for a full day of community celebration on July 4.

On Saturday, July 4, downtown will come alive with a full street festival from morning through evening. The day begins with the Transylvania County Farmers Market and continues with craft, retail, food, and nonprofit vendors throughout downtown. Visitors can enjoy live music, a classic car show, a youth bike parade, and family activities including a foam party and mini golf. Patriotic traditions will also take center stage with a flag raising ceremony, a reading from the Declaration of Independence, and a community birthday cake celebration.

Additional highlights include a beer garden, Rocky’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, an old-time street dance with live bluegrass music, and plenty of opportunities to explore downtown shopping and dining. The evening concludes with live music leading into a spectacular fireworks display after dark.
