Deerwoode Reserve is designed for families who want more than just a place to stay. Here, grandparents, cousins, siblings, and lifelong friends can spend quality time together while enjoying the privacy and comfort of their own cabins.

The Coyote Lodge naturally becomes the heart of every family reunion. Whether sharing breakfast, playing cards after dinner, watching grandchildren play, or enjoying stories beside the fireplace, it’s the place where everyone gathers between adventures. For larger family reunions and whole property bookings, renting the Mayes Event Center provides exclusive use of the whole property and a private facility outside of the cabins for everyone to enjoy meals together, play games, sit around the fire and have a covered area to gather in event of inclement weather.

Spend your days fishing together and relaxing in hammocks surrounded by nature and the cool mountain breeze. Paddle across the lake in kayaks and canoes under the warm sun. Float in our cool, spring-fed swimming hole while the kids jump off the platform. Wander wooded trails through the Bamboo Forest, alongside the French Broad River, or hike to the summit of Sugarloaf Mountain. As evening settles in, gather around the fire pit for s’mores beneath a canopy of stars.

We took our family (23 people) including their dogs for an after Christmas get together for 3 days during the holidays. We could not have had a better experience, The Lodge was perfect as a gathering place and we were able to cook some of the meals, which saved $$. The kids, ages 4 to 18; had a great time running free and playing around the ponds and hiking. All of us were sad it was over. We would definitely recommend it for large ( and small) family reunions, Great location, great facility, and great weather!! Thanks Dionne and Scott and staff!

We rented all 11 cabins for a group of 60+ for Thanksgiving 2025. It was a fantastic location with great hiking trails, beautiful scenery, the cabins were great (sizes for all different size families), very close to Brevard for groceries, and the firewood delivery service was exceptional. Would highly recommend for either individual family visits or group reunions.

Always the perfect spot for our annual family reunion. We rent the back four cabins and have plenty of privacy! Super peaceful surroundings, nightly grilling and conversations around the fire. And floated the river as well! Deerwoode is always special and Scott and Dionne are amazing hosts!

I highly recommend this beautiful place for your special event or just some quiet time for two in a smaller cabin on the property. The owners are so kind to make sure you have a wonderful stay. Our men’s retreat at Deerwoode was fantastic. Tons of space to spread out at the Coyote Lodge. The outdoor space was fantastic. Nights were quiet and we loved the fireplace. The staff were fantastic and brought us more firewood when needed and answered all our questions. Spent a lot of time fishing in the ponds and at the river as well as walking the many trails.

We recently booked several cabins at Deerwoode Reserve for a family event. The property is beautiful and there are outdoor activities for all to enjoy. Sunrise and sunset are spectacular! The location is convenient to lovely town of Brevard. The cabins were clean, comfortable and “rustic adorable”!

We had a great time with a big group of families getting together for a college reunion. Lots of outdoor activities for the whole family.
