What if I only want to book the Mayes Event Center venue and not any cabin accommodations?
Due to the close proximity of our cabins to the Mayes Event Center, any wedding or large event booked on a weekend more than six months out, is required to reserve lodging near the venue. Single day venue rentals, without cabin bookings, may be reserved on weekdays (Monday – Thursday) within 6 months of the event date. You may inquire about the availability of daily rentals on the weekend.
What if my guest count is over 200, can you host larger weddings?
Yes! Our venue capacity will allow for larger guest counts; however, based on your event plans and layout, the use of the pavilion and/or patio may need to be utilized for overflow seating. Additional rentals may also be required (client is responsible for any rental fees).
Are you pet-friendly?
Yes! We are a pet-friendly property and 10 of the 11 cabins allow dogs to stay. Pet fee is $75/per dog, must be under 75 lbs, with a maximum of 2 pets per cabin. No pets allowed in Big Log Cabin. Please refer to our pet policy on the website for complete details.
Do you require a wedding planner?
Yes! Deerwoode Reserve includes and provides Day-of Wedding Planning Service in our weekend packages. The hiring of a professional wedding planner is required for all weddings, even weekday & single-day venue rentals, and our in-house planning services may be added for a fee.
Do you require Special Event Insurance?
Yes! Coverage is required for your entire wedding weekend for all scheduled events. We will provide specific information and a link to apply for a quote and and purchase the insurance.
What is your alcohol policy?
If you choose to serve alcohol at any events held in the Mayes Event Center, we require use of our Bar Packages. No BYOB allowed. For liquor service, the client must apply for a NC ABC Special Liquor Permit. This is not required if only serving beet & wine.
Can we hire our own vendors?
Yes! We allow outside vendors & will provide a list of our recommended vendors. Venue approval is needed prior to hiring any vendors not on our recommended list. All vendors must complete a vendor contact form, provide proof of insurance, and acknowledge the rules & responsibilities related to the service they are providing.
Are there transportation services available
With this being a small mountain town, there are not any taxi or transportation services like Uber available in Transylvania County. If flying, we highly recommend renting a vehicle or arranging for private transporation services. We can provide a list of providers.
Do you provide any audio visual equipment?
Sorry, we do not offer any audio/visual equipment. Any items such as a screen, projector, microphone or speakers will need to be rented.
Can I customize the wedding packages and add cabins & services to my weekend?
Yes, of course! You may add more cabins, add extra night stays, book additional events, coordinate on-property experiences, schedule off-site outings, and include other special services to make your wedding weekend unique. We are happy to assist, just tell us your vision!
