Welcome from Deerwoode

The mountains have come alive! Although our Spring started out very dry with water levels dropping and bringing drought conditions to the region, we finally received some much needed rain. Mother Nature brought several inches of rain to fill our ponds, streams and rivers. It’s green and beautiful, with birds chirping and young wildlife all around us!

As we move into our summer season, we’re preparing to welcome visitors from near and far to this little slice of heaven tucked into the WNC mountains. We’re the perfect home base for all sorts of outdoor adventures ~ from chasing waterfalls, hiking, mountain biking, to so many river activities like tubing, fishing and snorkeling. Be sure to plan extra time to just relax and explore our property along the walking trails, paddling in the lake and jumping in the swimming hole. You’ll also find some treasures when you visit local shops & satisfy your culinary cravings with unique local restaurants in Brevard & surrounding towns.

We’re offering special deals to help keep your traveling budget in check this summer. So go ahead….Catch up with friends. Take the trip. Go on adventures. Make some memories. Don’t miss out on connecting with others. Just take the time to relax and recharge. What better place than surrounded by nature, with views of the mountains, to take your worries away!

New Dock on the French Broad River

The riverbank stabilization project is complete!

The previous dock on the river had to be taken down because it was falling into the river and became unsafe. Along with the riverbank stabilization project with Conserving Carolina, we’ve built a brand new dock on the river!

Large boulders have been placed along the shore, wrapped in a biodegradable mesh along with plantings that will grow and take root along the banks of the river. Also, enjoy easier access to the river with stones you can walk down.

We feel fortunate to be in a conservation easement to help provide a natural habitat for our wildlife and plantings. It’s not only a way to support preserving our natural landscape but it also enhances the beauty of our property for guests to enjoy. We hope you agree!

What’s Growing in the Garden?

Something new has been planted – the beginnings of a cut flower garden! While it doesn’t look like much yet, we’re excited to watch the plants grow and add beauty to your garden strolls.

Our Events Team: David, Dionne, and Hannah

Meet the Team! We are growing and couldn’t be more excited to share a little bit about us.

David owner of David Wright Events, has over 25 years of wedding & event planning experience, plus a background in the restaurant & hospitality industry. Having worked in restaurants, and planning everything from small intimate events to grand parties, and curating weddings at a boutique hotel and privately, David brings a unique perspective when working with our Deerwoode couples. David stays busy taking care of his dog Winnie and five cats, working out and stopping for coffee at his fav spot, Cup & Saucer.

Dionne is the owner, and while she primarily manages business operations, is learning more about wedding & event management. She handles guest relations, reservations, cabin accommodations and giving tours of the venue & property. Dionne brings with her a diverse background working in retail, non-profit and managing a prior business in Florida. She and her husband Scott have three daughters, and one pup, Bella. Dionne enjoys giving back to her community by serving on the boards of The Family Place and Transylvania County Tourism Development Authority.

Hannah is the newest member of the team. She is a graduate of Brevard High School and Brevard College. She has five years of event and wedding planning experience. After a few years away from Brevard, she couldn’t wait to return and recently moved back. When not working, you will find her hiking with her husband and two dogs (Stanley & Wallace) and making Sourdough goodies.

We’re excited to meet our potential wedding couples! We are here to answer any questions, give you a tour of the property and event space, and help plan your dream wedding (or other events)!
