Escape to your own family-friendly, rustic log cabin, close to hiking trails & lots of outdoor space for kids to explore.

Rustic log cabin with amazing views of the lake and mountains from the large covered porch. Originally built in the 1970s, and completely remodeled in 2022, you’ll feel all the charm of a log cabin with all the comforts of home.

Spend your time relaxing on the porch swing or around your own private fire pit (firewood provided). There’s a charcoal grill (charcoal not provided) & picnic table on the side deck overlooking the property. With it being located close to trails & fishing and perched on the edge of Sugarloaf Mountain, it’s the perfect place to create some fun family memories.

Property amenities included for free with your stay: Miles of hiking trails from easy along the French Broad River to moderate trails leading to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain. Water activities including jumping in the Swimming Hole filled by mountain spring water, kayaking in the lake and fishing (bring your own gear). Find relaxation in the Bamboo Forest and laying in the hammocks. Explore all 175 acres and find the hidden Fish Camp, the Observation Tower and watch for wildlife passing through.

Rate: Ranges from $275-$500. Select your dates to receive a quote for your stay.

Single cabin reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance.

Cancellations between 7-30 days prior to arrival date: 50% refundable + 100% of the cleaning fee. Cancellations within 7 days of arrival date: NON-REFUNDABLE, except for cleaning fee.

MEDIUM GROUP CABIN RENTAL (2-5 cabins): Cancellations more than 60 days prior to arrival date: 100% refundable, minus 3.5% processing fee. Cancellations between 30-60 days prior to arrival date: 50% refundable + 100% of the cleaning fees. Cancellations within 30 days of arrival date: NON-REFUNDABLE, except for cleaning fees.

LARGE GROUP CABIN RENTAL (6-11 cabins): Cancellations more than 90 days prior to arrival date: 100% refundable, minus 3.5% processing fee. Cancellations between 60-90 days prior to arrival date: 50% refundable + 100% of the cleaning fees. Cancellations within 60 days of arrival date: NON-REFUNDABLE, except for cleaning fees.

WHOLE PROPERTY RENTAL INCLUDING THEY MAYES EVENT CENTER: Cancellations more than 180 days prior to arrival date: All deposits paid to date are NON-REFUNDABLE. Cancellations within 180 days of arrival date: NON-REFUNDABLE, except for cleaning fees.

We had an amazing stay here! The reserve is absolutely beautiful! It’s so peaceful with only a handful of cabins. There’s several ponds, a swimming hole and kayaking available. My kids absolutely loved it. The cabin was exactly as described, very well maintained and stocked with just about whatever you would need.

I cannot say enough about the beautiful views from the Little Log Cabin. We enjoyed the surroundings from dawn to dusk. The trails were amazing. My entire family and our dogs had a great trip running around the property! The hike to the top of the mountain was tough but we all enjoyed it! The cabin was very clean and well stocked. We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit and seating! Can't wait to go again!

A wonderful getaway! This cabin and the surrounding Reserve are so perfect for a family, we really enjoyed our stay and would love to plan a trip back. The cabin layout worked well for us, with all three bedrooms downstairs and a spacious living area upstairs. The beds were very comfortable, the water was hot, everything was immaculately clean, the kitchen was full of all the essentials. Communication with the hosts was simple and straightforward. They thought of it all! The Reserve is beautiful, with so much to explore right out your front door. There are several National Parks within 30 min - it's just such a good location to get out onto the trails and see the countless waterfalls in the area. The cabin is also very close to town so it's easy to get groceries, coffee, etc as needed. Highly recommend staying here!

Such a beautiful cabin!! We LOVED all of the special touches and thought that went into the wonderful space!! Our kids loved the kayaking and canoeing and our dog got plenty of activity chasing white squirrels :)The bamboo forest was magical and we just all had such a wonderful time!!

We had an absolutely wonderful time! We loved the cabin and its location. The hammocks, bamboo forest and all of the trails right around the cabin were perfect. We saw 3 bears next to our cabin on our last night. It was a magical week. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. We loved the coffee bar as well. Thank you!

Perfect for Two Couples, a Kid, and Some Dogs!

We loved our week long stay at the little log cabin. It was perfect for two couples, a kid, and a couple of dogs. We spent a lot of time on the spacious porch and deck overlooking the ponds, and the trails were great for morning and afternoon walks. There is a good bit to do on the property itself, and it is in a great location with town and Dupont Forest being close by. Everything about the cabin was as advertised, and the owners were friendly and accommodating.

Recommend staying at this beautiful Reserve. Your definitely missing out if you pass this up ! Owners have thought of everything on this 125 acre reserve. 5 minutes from downtown Brevard. They have a cabin for everyone, groups small or large.
Great place to bring your dogs, next time we will. Check out their Bamboo Forest and take a spin on the kayak or canoe on the lake.

Already Making Plans to Come Back

We had a fantastic time at the Deerwoode Reserve! Our family used the kayaks on the lake, and our boys took a quick dip in the swimming hole. The bamboo forest was unique and fun to walk through. The cabin was lovely and better than we expected. The Reserve was so peaceful, and we enjoyed beginning each day with coffee on the deck overlooking the lake. The owners were extremely friendly and welcoming. We are already making plans to come back in the fall!
