Springtime is filled with new beginnings: New Hand-Crafted Tables in Coyote Lodge & Conserving Carolina Continues Restoration Project

Springtime is filled with new beginnings, transformations and growth. The mountains and landscape wake up and turn bright green. Leaves on the trees appear again and flowers are blooming all around. It’s such a beautiful time of year to watch for babies in the wild, tadpoles in the ponds and listen to the birds chirping. We hope you’ll plan some time to escape to the mountains to discover your own personal renewal and reawakening practices. It’s the perfect place to set goals and embrace positive changes.

During May we turn our focus to preparing for a busy wedding season. We love being part of our sweet couple’s special day and watching them celebrate their love with family & friends. We look forward to welcoming our summer vacationers, from new guests to our faithful repeat visitors. WNC offers a variety of outdoor activities and with our close proximity to Downtown Brevard and popular points of interest, we’re a great spot to stay as your home base for adventure. Our property also allows you space to just stay put and enjoy nature. Go ahead and book your stay now ~ we can’t wait to see you!

New Hand-Crafted Tables

Coyote Lodge features new dining table, end tables and coffee table!

We’ve refreshed the interior spaces of Coyote Lodge. As you enter the great room, all eyes are on this new, fabulous 9′ custom dining table handcrafted by Scott. Hanging above is a new chandelier to create a beautiful focal point and offer additional light. The living room still provides plenty of space for gathering and everyone can stay cozy & warm around the fireplace. A new coffee table and end tables have also been added, also handmade by Scott. Upstairs, the balcony overlooks the great room and provides additional seating, perfect for playing games or reading a book. Kids of all ages will enjoy the foosball table. Original artwork by Elizabeth Mayes is on display featuring paintings of cabins on the property.

Conserving Carolina Continues Restoration Project

In partnership with our conservation land manager, Conserving Carolina, the heavy equipment is here to begin a major restoration project that will enhance the future use of our property. The second phase is underway. The riverbank stabilization near the front of the property between Otter and River Cabins has been completed. Large boulders have been placed along the shore, wrapped in a biodegradable mesh along with plantings that will grow and take root along the banks of the river. Work continues in the back of the property along the river bank to stabilize that section of river as it curves away from our property.

The third phase will beginning soon that will create a still water Muskey slough, that will allow for safe breeding areas for these and other fish in the river. The area surrounding the slough has had clusters of bamboo removed, along with invasive vines. The landscape will change to a more natural native plantings that will surround the pond.

We feel fortunate to be in a conservation easement to help provide a natural habitat for our wildlife and plantings. It’s not only a way to support preserving our natural landscape but it also enhances the beauty of our property for guests to enjoy. We hope you agree!
