April 2026 News from Deerwoode

Spring is in the air! While the temps are still fluctuating between warm & sunny days with cooler nights, it’s evident that spring is finally here with colorful blooms all around town. This year marks the start of our 6th season hosting guests and we cannot wait to welcome our 2026 wedding couples to celebrate their love, family reunions to gather and make lasting memories, those hosting & attending special events, families coming to get away and couples visiting to reconnect.

This month we’re highlighting some exciting projects happening around the property, information about the WNC Spring Wedding Showcase we are hosting, along with an exclusive deal to “experience a wedding weekend” with us. We hope this year you practice being intentional in your thoughts, kind in your words and that you spend your valuable time doing what matters most & being with your loved ones more. I think we can help with all of those. See you soon!

New Entrance Wall:

What Helene took down, we’ve built even stronger!

While we were fortunate to not sustain major property damage from the wrath of Hurricane Helene, our front entrance was damaged due to fallen trees. This winter, work began to install new stacked stone walls to welcome guests into Deerwoode Reserve. They’re not quite finished, as we still need to make it a bit prettier with some landscaping, but we hope you like the updated entry to the property. We hope you appreciate all the little improvements we continue to make along the way!

Conserving Carolina Begins Restoration Project

In partnership with our conservation land manager, Conserving Carolina, the heavy equipment is here to begin a major restoration project that will enhance the future use of our property. The first phase is underway to remove clusters of bamboo and replace with native plantings. Don’t worry, the Bamboo Forest will remain!

The next phase will focus on riverbank stabilization in several areas of our property line along The French Broad River. This will also include creating a still water Muskey slough to allow for safe breeding areas for these and other fish in the river. Follow us for more updates on this exciting project.

We feel fortunate to be in a conservation easement to help provide a natural habitat for our wildlife and plantings. It’s not only a way to support preserving our natural landscape but it also enhances the beauty of our property for guests to enjoy. We hope you agree!
