Pisgah National Forest/ Waterfalls

Deerwoode is only a few miles from Pisgah National Forest, Gorges State Park, and Dupont State Park. Let us suggest an all day trip in Pisgah. You start at the rangers station just at the entrace to Pisgah on hwy 276 and make your route hitting all these great stops:

The Fish hatchery-Looking Glass Falls-Moores Cove-Sliding Rock-The Cradle Of Forestry-then on up to the Blue Ridge Parkway and grab some coffe or lunch at The Pisgah Inn, the view is amazing. From there you can go one mile down the road and hike Mt Pisgah, one of the highest peaks in WNC. If you are up to it, hike Mt Pisgah, it takes a few hours. Then when you come down, head back west on the parkway and stop at Graveyard Fields. You can hike down to a waterfall on that trial. Then continue west on the parkway and stop at Devils Courthouse, great views. Once you are done with that continue west on the parkway to hwy 215 south, stop at Bird Rock Falls.

Pick up hwy 64 in Rosman and make your way back to Brevard, a great all day trip.

The next day you may want to hit Dupont State Park, film site of the Hunger Games. There are 4 great waterfalls there to see, all within a few mile hike. There are 278 waterfalls in Transylvania County…enjoy!
